People arrive here on the worst week of their lives. These are the rules that keep the board usable for them.
Describe the property, never the person
“Two bedrooms, ground floor, off-street parking” is a listing. “Ideal for a quiet professional couple, no children” is a fair-housing violation, and it is refused before it publishes.
Post only what is real and current
Housing you actually control. Needs that are actually yours. One active request per household. Close a post as soon as it is no longer true — a stale listing costs a displaced family a phone call and an afternoon.
Never ask for money here
No deposits, no application fees, no holding payments, no gift cards, no wire transfers, no cryptocurrency. Nobody from this site will ever ask you for money. Anyone asking you to pay before you have seen a property in person is very likely defrauding you.
Keep contact details out of public text
Phone numbers and email addresses in a title or description are rejected. This is not bureaucracy: a public phone number on a disaster-relief board attracts scam calls to someone who has just lost their home. Message through the site instead.
Treat private information as borrowed
If someone shares an address, a phone number or their situation with you in a message, it is for arranging housing and nothing else. Do not repost it, forward it, or add it to a spreadsheet.
Report rather than argue
Use the report action on a public post. A conversation can be reported only by one of the two people in it. Reports enter the moderator queue — nobody is on duty around the clock, so use 911 or 211 if someone is in danger.
An administrator can see a conversation only while an open report from one of its participants names it.
What gets a post removed
Discriminatory wording, requests for money, listings the poster does not control, impersonation, harassment, contact details in public text after a warning, and posts that are repeatedly out of date. Moderation acts on posts; there is no account suspension mechanism today, so this page does not claim one.
